Episode 1/3: Before

We get to know Joe and Joyce in their early days as a couple as they shed light on the context in which the violence took place.

“This behavior has been passed down for seven generations and […] then it came to me”

– Joe

Episode 2/3: During

In Joe’s and Joyce’s family, the violence continues until the decisive moment, when they say no to violence.

“It’s a thing men don’t talk about ever, until I found help and I was able to talk about it.”

– Joe

Episode 3/3: After

Resilience is strong enough to break the cycle of violence and that an “after” without violence exists.

“By telling our stories for other individuals […], they can see that there is a possibility for change, that change can happen.”

– Joyce

And now...

Joe and Joyce now form a couple based on freedom and mutual respect. They founded Warriors Against Violence in Vancouver, which helps men and families recover from violence.
